It is the mid-2260s, and an enormous, destructive cloud unknown destructive force is passing through space on a precise heading for Earth. The Enterprise finds an ancient interstellar probe from Earth known as Nomad, missing for 265 over 300 years, which has somehow mutated into a powerful and intelligent machine bent on sterilizing entire planets that do not meet its standards of perfection.
